Hog Island Oysters

My sister is the sort of person that makes things happen. So when I mentioned that I dreamed of a day at Hog Island Oyster Farm in Marshall, she stayed up late or woke early (I forget but recall that she compromised sleep for me) to book a highly sought after "shuck your own" table.

The day was more than I had imagined. Following the policies of Hog Island Oyster, we arrived with our own drinks and some picnic foods. A quick lesson on shucking from the really cool staff and we were off. Many oysters were eaten raw and another hefty amount we had grilled with bacon and chives (a recipe of my brother's).
